Rose-tinted lens darkens as Cherries regress at Chelsea

Bournemouth’s defeat to Chelsea has raised fresh concerns over Marco Rose’s side, with defensive lapses and a lack of confidence proving costly. Despite promising underlying numbers and flashes of attacking threat, Cherries are struggling to turn potential into points.

The lens focused on Marco Rose’s Cherries tenure darkened on Saturday afternoon, minutes past 3pm.

Rose’s comments about his side not being ‘ready’ for the start of the game is alarming when you consider that Chelsea have now scored six goals in the first 10 minutes of Premier League games so far this season - with five being scored in the opening five minutes.

For the first, Bournemouth looked slightly at sea in terms of tracking players, explaining why Jordan Henderson was afforded so much space to curl home from the edge of the area.

By the time Chelsea had won the ball back and surged forward to score their second less than a minute later, Cherries were in full-on panic mode.
