Bournemouth have added second string to their bow

AFC Bournemouth are through to the quarter finals of the Carabao Cup after dismantling Aston Villa's B team with their own much-changed line-up. Cherries have proven that the entire squad now understands Rose-ball.

3-0 again olé, olé. AFC Bournemouth are on a roll, no matter who they play - no matter who they field.

This year Cherries have to navigate four competitions for the first time since the 2012-23 season, with the glamorous (insert your preferred sponsor here) Football League Trophy for the Europa League.

If Bournemouth’s first-choice players have grasped what Marco Rose’s system requires, then their understudies have also learnt their lines by heart.

Cherries’ pressing game panicked Manchester United within minutes of the first whistle on Sunday, but against Villa it reached another level. Perhaps it was the fresh legs thanks to rotation, or the hunger the players had to prove themselves to Rose.
