Cherries' eye-opening record on the first day of the season

AFC Bournemouth’s 101st season since joining the Football League starts this weekend with the daunting prospect of facing Manchester City away at the Etihad.

Cityzens may not be the all-conquering side they were at their peak under Pep Guardiola, but Cherries’ record away at City makes for fairly grim reading - 13 visits to Manchester, 12 defeats and one draw.

Combined with their opening day history, it would be easy to write off Marco Rose’s chances of a debut win as Bournemouth boss.

In 100 games, Cherries have won 35 - losing 45, and drawing the remaining 20 fixtures.
